What happens at The SonShine Clubs??? |
|
|
The Sonshine Clubs was founded by Rev. Eli Williams in 1993. What started out as a children’s ministry held outside of a housing project has now become an after-school ministry held in all 10 Springfield City elementary schools, Emmanuel Christian Academy and expanding into more schools in the future. The grace of God was upon Rev. Williams and his heart to reach the children and that labor of love is still going forward and being blessed by God to this day. We are most grateful to God for His grace upon The Sonshine Clubs; as well as thankful to the schools and all of our volunteers who give their time, effort and love to the children in our community. |
The
Sonshine
Clubs
is a high energy, fun, attention-grabbing, life-impacting ministry
to the students in our schools. Many of these children have had very
little or no exposure to the love and message of Jesus Christ.
So, it is our mission to bring Jesus to them — right
where they are!!
We have a one hour program that begins with a short prayer. We then
move into a high energy game or activity, pledges to the American
flag and the Bible, upbeat songs, an encouraging teaching from the
Bible, memory verses and the chance to earn special treats or
prizes. We then conclude with a prayer that God would bless and keep
every student until we meet again the next week. Click

Scott came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in November 1989. Shortly after his conversion, he sensed and acknowledge the calling of God on his life to devote himself to the ministry. Scott attended Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, PA from 1990-1992, majoring in Pastoral Ministry. He completed his course work for ministerial credentials through Berean College in Springfield, MO. Scott and his wife Angela were married in Brunswick, Ohio in June 1992. They are blessed with two beautiful daughters. In 2001, Scott accepted the call to his first senior pastorate of Abundant Life Assembly of God in Springfield, OH. He served there until May 2004. In December 2004, Scott was elected as the senior pastor of Piqua Assembly of God in Piqua, OH, where he served until February 2008. Scott was brought on at Urban Light Ministries in September 2008. He currently serves in overseeing 12 Sonshine Clubs in the Springfield City Schools, Emmanuel Christian Academy and Enon Elementary. Scott also serves in developing the newly formed Fatherhood Resource Center as part of Urban Light’s ministry to fathers.
